Dental Implants in Hayward CA

Missing teeth as a result of accident, injury, or any other reason affect not only the appearance of your smile but also the functions of your mouth. They can throw your bite out of alignment and may also create difficulty speaking. When you visit our clinic for the replacement of your missing teeth, we may suggest dental implants.

What are Dental Implants?

Dental implants are titanium studs that we implant into your jaw to restore your ability to chew and enhance your appearance. Implants offer support to your artificial teeth like bridges, crowns, and dentures. They are a sought-after option to restore one or more missing permanent teeth. Implants are created to feel, function, and look exactly like your natural teeth.

What are the Benefits of Dental Implants?

  • Dental implants are a long-term treatment option for your missing tooth or teeth that help you perform all the activities like speaking, chewing, and others without any discomfort.
  • They keep your jawbone from shrinking because of loss of bone.
  • Implants also help to preserve the health of your gums and surrounding bone.
  • They maintain the stability of your adjacent teeth.

What is the Procedure?

A dental implant is an outpatient surgery. An implant made using titanium, or another material is fused to your jawbone. It imitates the root of your teeth.

  • Upon your first visit, we will numb the site of the procedure with local anesthesia. Alternatively, we may give you IV sedation.
  • An incision in your gums will be made to place the implant in your jawbone where your teeth are missing. Once we place the implant, we will close the gum over it to cover it.
  • We will give you some time to recover at home. This recovery period will let the bone grow around the implant, thus making it strong and keeping it in place.
  • During the next consultation, we will place a connecting piece known as an abutment on the visible portion of your implant. The role of the abutment is to hold the artificial teeth in place.
  • We will take the impression of your teeth and create replacement prosthetic teeth known as crowns. They are later attached to the abutment.

How to Care For Implants?

Implants require proper dental hygiene to maintain them in the long run. You must brush and floss your teeth twice a day. Visit us from time to time for check-ups and appointments. Practicing good dental care is essential to maintaining your overall oral health.
